MOUNT VERNON, OAK HARBOR & Sedro-Woolley AUTO REPAIR

Don't Drip & Drive

Every year thousands of people from all over the county and the world flock to our beautiful Washington. From the mouths of each of them come words of praise for the beauty of our state, from our natural rainforests to our beaches. We as residence take pride in keeping our state as clean and beautiful as we can. But did you know that there is one more step each of could be taking to help out just a bit more?

Every year approximately 7 Million Quarts of motor oil seep into the Puget Sound basin! 7 Million quarts! That’s 1.75 Million Gallons being dumped each year into the water. The vast majority of this oil comes from the vehicles that we drive every day. Most of the oil lost is from small motor oil drips. Just because we don’t see copious amounts of oil in our driveways or parking spaces does not necessarily mean that the leak isn’t there.

Don’t Drip & Drive is a regional campaign facilitated by a grant from the Washington Department of Ecology, and organized by the Stormwater Outreach for Regional Municipalities (STORM) consortium. Don’t Drip & Drive aims to educate Washington drivers about the importance of checking for vehicle leaks and of regular vehicle inspections, whether on their own or at a repair shop. To encourage Washington residents to improve the reliability and safety of their cars, Don’t Drip & Drive offers drivers a way to take their vehicles to a participating repair shop for a free and easy visual leak inspection. The program runs July, August, and September 2014.

Mount Vernon Towing & Auto Repair is proud to be participating in this program for the second year in a row. Come down and help us help you to lessen the negative impact that we all are making on our local waterways, wildlife and habitat. Don’t Drip & Drive is a unique opportunity for drivers to save money on vehicle maintenance while helping protect our water for future generations.
